Foreign currency exchange, or so call FOREX, had become one of the best home businesses you can venture in nowadays. By trading foreign currencies through Internet, theoretically now one can now make money at anywhere, anytime. For the new comers, Forex is the world largest trading market, yielding an average of $1.9 trillion daily turnover. As the majority who trade FOREX are speculators, FOREX is also well known as the most liquid trading available. Forex trading became available to retail traders in 1999. The first handful of years was wrought with overnight brokers that seem to shut up shop without notice. The common denominator was that these brokers were based and non-regulated countries. While some did take place the United States, the majority seem to happen overseas where all it took to set up a brokerage was a few thousand dollars in fees.

Among the main participants of the forex trading market, one of the most growing segments of the total pool of participants of the marketplace, are retail foreign exchange traders (individuals) who participate in online forex trading for mainly speculative reasons with the ultimate goal of generating a profit from currency fluctuations (market changes), or hedging unwanted currency risk.

Backtesting is the evaluation of a particular trading strategy using historical data. Results presented are hypothetical, they did not actually occur and they may not take into consideration all transaction fees or taxes you would incur in an actual transaction. And just as past performance of a security does not guarantee future results, past performance of a strategy does not guarantee the strategy will be successful in the future. Results could vary significantly, and losses could result.

In 2004, Gregory Blake Baldwin of Utah pleaded guilty to fraud after his firm, Sunstar Funding, accepted $228,500 from 33 investors for placement into the foreign currency market. The investors' money was not placed in the foreign currency market but was used to pay some past investors and for personal expenses of Baldwin.
